Live in the New York Area and want to try one-on-one coaching?

Some people want to go a little deeper than the videos, and if you live in the greater New York Area, I'm available for private coaching on a limited basis.

(If you're not in New York, and/or want a more affordable option that still gives you the personal feedback you'd get from a private lesson, check out the 80/20 coaching course.)

What's the advantage to private coaching?

I know from viewer response to my videos that motivated drummers want two things - personal feedback, and "done for you" practice routines. In fact, many people who seek me out for private lessons have already downloaded the videos.

My availability is limited, but here's what I'll do for a small number of in-person students.

  1. "Walk you through" a practice session, letting you discover the "sweet spot" of productive practice and making spot corrections.

  2. Make recommendations customized to your needs.

  3. Develop an interactive practice routine, whether you take only one lesson or come back on a regular basis.

I approach this more like a sports coach than a traditional music teacher. (Which is how most of the best music teachers I've studied with approached it!)

I'm also different from most "drum teachers" in one respect. Many of them want you to keep coming back. I'd love to see you, but I want you to save your money. If you want to see me only once, once-a-month, or once-a-season, it's all good. It's my aim to teach good practice habits so you can, increasingly, teach yourself.

Use the contact form below to get in touch with me if you're interested in lessons.

Note: In person coaching has been suspended while social distancing guidelines remain in place in NYC. We will update this page when in person coaching is resumed, but please reach out if you have any questions.

Because I'm only one person, I can't coach everyone privately, especially if you don't live in New York.

That's why I'm developing the 80/20 Coaching Course, which gives you the same personal feedback component you'd get from an in-person private lesson, plus a personalized practice routine, but for about a quarter the price. And you don't have to be there in person.
